Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of Mexico - Coapexpan

The Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of Mexico was marked by the victory of Team Canada (composed of Laura Jane Tidball, Jenn Serek, Jonathon Millar and Keean Whithe) on Sunday 22 April. As the Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Watch of this international show jumping competition, Longines was also associated with another highlight of the event: the Longines Grand Prix on Friday 20 April. On this occasion, Brazilian rider Eduardo Menezes riding Quintol earned first place. Longines was proud to grant the winners of both competitions with elegant timepieces as a reward for their great performance.

The spectators of the show had the opportunity to discover the Official Watch of the event, the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision” model, which represents a new achievement in the field of quartz, combining great precision, high technicality and a sporty look marked by the brand’s unique elegance.

Longines Global Champions Tour - Shanghai

The third leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour gathered this weekend some of the world’s best riders and horses in Shanghai in front of the impressive 63-meter high China Art Palace. As the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Tour, the Swiss watch brand was proud to be associated with the highlight of the Chinese stage, the Longines Global Champions Grand Prix of Shanghai.

Longines Ambassador of Elegance Chi Ling Lin attended the event on Saturday, and witnessed the victory of Gregory Wathelet on Coree in the featured competition. The Asian actress, together with Vice President of Longines China Dennis Li, presented Gregory Wathelet an elegant Longines timepiece to celebrate his achievement.

The Official Watch of the 2018 Longines Global Champions Tour of Shanghai is a model of Record Collection, a line aspiring to become the spearheads of the brand. Combining classic elegance and excellence, this automatic timepiece houses a chronometer movement with unique properties, certifies by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

After its Asian leg, the Longines Global Champions Tour will return to Europe for the next rounds. The coming competitions will take place in Madrid, Hamburg, Saint Tropez and Cannes. The Tour, which began in Mexico City at end of March, will end in December in Prague, after 17 stages in 17 different cities.

The “Roland-Garros Junior Wild-Card Competition by Longines” started this weekend in Brazil

The first phase of the “Roland-Garros Junior Wild-Card Competition by Longines” began this weekend, from Thursday 12th April to 15th April, at the Pampulha Iate Clube in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The competition will continue in China, from 23rd to 26th April at the Zhongshang Tennis Club in Nanchang, and in Delhi, India, from 25th to 27th April at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association. Ana Paula Milelo and Mateo Reyes won their ticket for the final and will be flying on May 26th to Paris to compete against the Chinese and Indian winners.


About the tournament

The event, supported by Longines, invites the best boy and girl players from each of these three countries to play each other in clay-court tournaments. The winners from each nation will then travel to Paris to play in the final phase of the competition. If they win in Paris, they will be awarded a wildcard for the main draw of the Junior singles tournament at Roland Garros, which will be held from 3rd to 9th June 2018. The two finals (boys and girls) will take place at Roland Garros stadium on Saturday 26th May, on Court 6, as part of Roland Garros Kids’ Day.

Longines reçoit la visite de la championne de ski et Ambassadrice de l’Elégance Mikaela Shiffrin en son siège à Saint-Imier

La carrière de l’Américaine Mikaela Shiffrin est celle de tous les superlatifs : âgée de 23 ans seulement, elle a déjà remporté tous les titres majeurs en ski alpin – ainsi que trois Prix Longines Rising Ski Stars – et s’est vu remettre son second Globe de Crystal le 18 mars dernier lors des Finales de la Coupe du Monde FIS de Åre, en Suède. Près d’un mois après cette nouvelle consécration, la marque horlogère suisse Longines a convié son Ambassadrice de l’Elégance pour une visite de ses locaux sis à Saint-Imier. L’occasion pour Mikaela Shiffrin, membre de la famille Longines depuis 2014, de découvrir les ateliers de production, le musée et, de façon plus générale, l’impressionnant savoir-faire horloger qui caractérise la marque au sablier ailé depuis plus de 185 ans.

 

Avant de rencontrer les employés et les jeunes skieurs du Ski Club Saint-Imier et du Ski-Club Chasseral Dombresson-Villiers venus en nombre saluer la talentueuse athlète, Mikaela Shiffrin s’est vu confier la passionnante tâche de personnaliser un modèle de la collection Conquest, qui sera par la suite produit en édition limitée et dévoilé au début de la saison de ski alpin 2018/2019, à Sölden.

 

Ravie d’avoir eu l’opportunité d’exprimer son interprétation du motto de la marque « Elegance is an Attitude », la championne américaine a commenté : « Je suis très honorée d’avoir été conviée chez Longines pour découvrir sa riche histoire, son savoir-faire, et le processus complexe de la création d’une montre. Je ne regarderai plus jamais mes montres de la même manière ! Avoir l’occasion de personnaliser une montre Longines et d’exprimer ma vision de l’élégance est une expérience inoubliable. J’espère que mes fans retrouveront dans cette montre quelques facettes de ma personnalité, mon côté sportif et dynamique couplé à une touche de féminité qui m’est propre. Closing Ceremony of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games

On 15 April, Longines celebrated the conclusion of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) alongside its long-standing Ambassador of Elegance and Australian actor, Simon Baker. The Closing Ceremony paid tribute to the remarkable performances of Commonwealth athletes at Carrara Stadium and concluded with the passing of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games baton.

As the Official Timekeeper of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Longines displayed its timing excellence throughout the 11 days of intense competition, capturing 9 record-breaking performances.

Across Longines’ Presenting Partnerships - Athletics, Gymnastics, Rugby Sevens and Table Tennis – and in its capacity as Official Timekeeper of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Longines congratulates all Commonwealth athletes who achieved outstanding results throughout the 11 days of competition.%break%Throughout GC2018, the Swiss watch brand hosted an action packed schedule of events at Longines Records Club on Broadbeach including the Longines Records Ceremonies which saw a number of the world record-breaker athletes come to the Records Club to receive a Conquest V.H.P. Gold Coast 2018 Commonewealth Games, a personal certificate of achievement and a $500 AUD donation in their names to UNICEF in recognition of their outstanding achievement. The Commonweatlth Games records were also celebrated during the Longines Records Ceremonies. The record-breaking athletes were presented with a personal certificate of achievement and a $250 AUD donation in their names to UNICEF.

Multiple world record and commonwealth records honoured at longines records club

Nigerian athlete Esther Oyema was honored at the final Longines Record Ceremony of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games at Longines Records Club on the last day of competition. Esther Oyema, who lifted a very impressive 131kg in the woman’s para powerlifting up to 50kg event, was presented a limited edition Conquest V.H.P. Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games watch. She is one of nine athletes and teams to break world records during the Commonwealth Games. Longines Vice President Charles Villoz, presented the watch to the athlete, as well as a certificate of achievement a donation in her name to UNICEF.%break%A number of Commonwealth Games Records were also honoured at the ceremony, with athletes presented with a certificate of achievement and a donation in their name to UNICEF.

Over 100 Commonwealth Games records were broken during the Games.

Longines is proud to have been the Official Timekeeper of Gold Coast 2018 and is looking forward to the next edition of the Commonwealth Games, which will take place in 2022 in Birmingham, England.
